Schuylkill Valley GSP Club

Schuylkill Valley German Shorthaired Pointer Club hosts events each year that are designed to help members in various endeavors with their dogs. Generally, there is a strong field component, ranging from introduction to birds to polishing performance for Hunt Tests.
- Conformation Specialty Show
- The Schuylkill Valley German Shorthaired Pointer Club supports conformation showing by holding at least one specialty show annually. This will take place on March 15, 2026 at the York County Fairgrounds in York, PA
- Training Day
- A spring event, so you have time to work with your dog before the Fall Hunt Test. The location is at Pheasant Valley Farm in Robesonia, Pa. Food is prepared by club members for everyone’s enjoyment. The next training day is scheduled for Saturday, May 16, 2026.
- Mock Test
- A fall event, back by popular demand. This is your opportunity to see where your dog is under test scenarios. Please sign up swiftly, this fills up fast! This will take place at Freeland Kennel. Date: TBD
- Hunt Tests
- A spring and fall event, The American Kennel club instituted Pointing Dog Hunt Testing in 1986 following the success of the Retrieving Dog Hunt Test program. The first test was held in April 1986 by the Nebraska Brittany Club. Since that time, most pointing dog breed clubs have been holding hunt tests. We typically hold our hunt tests at Freeland Kennel Club, Weatherly PA. Spring 2026 dates: TBD
