Schuylkill Valley GSP Club
The goal of this training day is to show you drills you can do in your own yard to get your dog ready for hunt tests. Even show you some training tools you can make or purchase to help you. It will be set up with training stations for different levels (Junior and Senior). Participants will be assigned to groups according to experience and interest.
The event will begin with separate group introductions to AKC Jr Hunt Tests and Sr Hunt Tests. This group activity will include explanation of the test requirements and a demonstration. Following the introduction, smaller groups will go to individual stations to participate with their dogs in drills to help prepare your dog for testing.
This is not a Mock Hunt Test, SVGSPC will hold a Mock Test on Sunday, September 8.
Tentative Schedule:
- 8:00: Check-In and group assignment
- 8:30: Group Introduction to Jr/Sr in separate locations
- 9:00 – 9:45: Activity #1
- 10:00-10:45: Activity #2
- 11:00-11:45: Activity #3
- 12:00 Pot Luck Lunch: The club will provide sandwiches and participants are asked to bring a side dish, drink or dessert. Please list the food item you will bring on your registration form.
- 1:00 A brief club meeting will be held to discuss current club business, elections will be held and new officers will be elected. During this meeting we will have a discussion and demonstration of bird planting and other jobs for hunt tests.
Club members who do not have dogs preparing for hunt tests are encouraged to attend the lunch and the meeting. Help is needed with registration and lunch set-up.
Registration will be open to club members first then extended to non-club members. Entries will be limited.
