Specialty Shows

Schuylkill Valley GSP Club

The Schuylkill Valley German Shorthaired Pointer Club supports conformation showing by holding at least one specialty show annually.

Our club’s annual Specialty Show will be on Sunday, March 16, 2025 at the York County Fairgrounds, York, PA. This will be a part of the Celtic Cluster shows.

  • Sweepstakes starts at 8am with 15 dogs, Judge Alyssa Siar
  • Specialty Show starts at 8:45am with 36 dogs, Judge Mr. Richard W Powell

We will offer breakfast treats that morning ringside.
Mason Dixon GSP Club is holding a Specialty and sweepstakes on Friday 3/14 and Saturday 3/15. It should be a great weekend of shows! Entries are through Jim Rau Dog Shows and will close February 26th noon.

We will be in the Old Main Hall Building on the fairgrounds at Ring 20. Attached is a map of the fairgrounds

Help is Needed on March 16, 2025 at the Show!

We need help from our club members at the show!

NO PRIOR EXPERIENCE NECESSARY, NO KNOWLEDGE OF DOG SHOWS NEEDED:

  • 6:30AM – Help Jaimie set-up Trophies/Rosettes – 1 person (cover with table cloths, hang banners and organize prizes). If can stay, help Jaimie tear down these tables quickly at the end so the next clubs coming in can set-up.
  • 6:30AM – Set-up Breakfast Items and go to Dunkin (down street) for coffee – 1-2 people. If these people could keep the table clean/refreshed throughout the morning and stay to clean the food up quickly at the conclusion of the show, that would be ideal
  • 6:30AM – Set-up Raffle Items Tables – 2 -3 people. Put down table covers, put out and accept raffle items as they are dropped off. Create paper bags for raffle tickets to go in. Sell raffle tickets throughout the show. Do the drawing of raffle tickets at the conclusion of Best of Breed. Clean up tables at conclusion quickly so the next club coming in can set-up. (Jaimie will bring all supplies needed – cash, cashbox, raffle tickets, tape, paperbags, table covers, markers, pens)
  • 8AM – Mark the show catalog with the placings of the dogs in the ring – 1 person
  •  Shopper and/or Bakers – If anyone would be interested in shopping for the breakfast items (or cooking breakfast items) and bringing them that morning (or getting to Jaimie by day before) that would also be much appreciated! Last year we did baked mini muffins, egg bites, cookies, Nutrigrain bars, mini water bottles, and coffee. Jaimie can provide more details.

Please let Jaimie Reinhard (Show Chair) know as soon as possible if you are available by via email or phone (shipeJL@gmail.com or 484-529-8302)

Exact time of show won’t be known until the week before the show. It will most likely be 8am. So we will need help starting EARLY 6:30am! Should be done before noon with clean-up.

GSP DNA Blood Draw

The German Shorthaired Pointer Club of America (national club) has a Health and Welfare Committee – they are looking for folks to donate their dog’s blood to the DNA Repository. Your donation allows schools that are doing research in specific areas i.e. Chagas, Hemangiosarcoma, Lymphoma, Epilepsy, etc. to pull on our DNA to help their research.

All dogs are needed. You do NOT need to be entered at the show to participate in this.

Tiffany Cessna has offered to do the blood draws at the show the entire weekend.

If you would like to participate please send an email or text to Jaimie to sign up (shipeJL@gmail.com or 484-529-8302)
The only thing needed is this form filled out to bring with (paper copies will be available): ofa.org/applications – Look for the DNA Repository Form. At the show we will be providing coffee, water, juice and breakfast treats.

We are also holding a Basket Raffle and will pull entries towards the conclusion of the show. There are 15+ baskets! Still taking donations if interested! The money from the raffle will help to offset costs of the trophies/show. We could still use help selling raffle tickets if anyone is available! Please let Jaimie know.

We will be setting up at 6:30AM and need to be ready to sell tickets no later than 7:30am as exhibitors start arriving.

Thank You to our Trophy Sponsors!.
